White Plains recognized as one of the Top Rated "Greenest" places in Westchester County
Grassroots Environmental Education, a non-profit organization, commended the city of White Plains for being "Green".The organization's program called "How Green is My Town?" identified 6 municipalities in Westchester County that addressed key environmental issues.The goal of the program is to help communities share ideas and resources, and to find ways to move ahead on a green agenda during these tough economic times.White Plains ranked the highest among the other towns for having things like energy efficient equipment, using alternative fuel vehicles, performing energy audits, and prohibiting pesticides to name a few. DPW Commissioner Bud Nicoletti was on hand to receive the "Green Star Award" at a press conference at Pace University in Pleasantville on March 24th.
