Haiti: White Plains Cares February 22, 2010
Dear Friend of White Plains Cares: Haiti Relief 2010, Thank you for your caring, compassion and support of all of our efforts to provide some relief and much needed assistance through White Plains Cares: Haiti Relief 2010. As you know, our efforts are focused in three areas: fundraising, supply collection, and educational and cultural events.
To date, our efforts have focused on raising desperately needed funds to be donated to Doctors Without Borders. So far, our fundraising efforts have yielded a total of $33,015.72. Many people and organizations participated, including:
| The White Plains Professional Fire Fighters Association, Local 274 |
$13,000 |
| The children, youth, families and staff of the White Plains Schools |
$14,818 |
| The Youth Bureau’s 5th Annual Dance Benefit |
$5,000 |
| The Seniors of the White Plains Senior Center |
$197 |
The White Plains Cares: Haiti Relief 2010 Education and Culture sub-committee is fully engaged in planning a series of events to be held throughout the year that will celebrate the people, culture, and land of Haiti. Your input and participation continues to be welcome on this committee. We are all looking forward to the calendar of events to be released shortly.
Lastly, we are ready to embark on the collection of necessary supplies for the people of Haiti. White Plains Cares: Haiti Relief 2010 will be sponsoring Supplies for Haiti throughout the month of March 2010. We are encouraging organizations to sponsor your own localized drive and all items collected will be coordinated for packaging and shipment to Haiti. We are fortunate to have three partners that have close ties to Haiti: the French Speaking Baptist Church, Haitians for Haitians of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, and AFYA. All supplies collected will benefit the people of Haiti through these three organizations. Click here for the Supplies for Haiti items list.
I encourage you to use the attached tools and templates to assist you with this campaign for supplies. Please do not hesitate to contact Linda Puoplo, 914-422-1378 or lpuoplo@whiteplainsny.gov for any assistance. And again, thank you for all of your support, energy and commitment. The amount of people and organizations that have joined the efforts of White Plains Cares: Haiti Relief 2010 has been remarkable. White Plains truly is a city that cares. |
