Household Goods Donation Sites

“Take It or Leave It” (TiLi) Shed

Located at the Gedney Recycling Yard, the Take It or Leave It Shed is a partnership between the City’s Department of Public Works and Eco Neighbors, a local environmental group. It allows residents to give away usable items to their neighbors, or to take advantage of treasure that someone else can no longer use.

Open twice weekly, the TiLi Shed is operated completely by volunteers, and TiLi is credited with removing large quantities of furniture, toys, sporting goods, and various household items from the waste stream, while providing residents with reusable items, free of charge!

General Hours
Saturdays: 9 a.m. – Noon
Wednesdays: 2 p.m. – 4 p.m.

Go to www.econeighbors.org for more information.

Furniture Sharehouse
The City of White Plains is pleased to collaborate with Furniture Sharehouse by providing a Furniture Drop-Off Bin at the Gedney Recycling Yard for residents to donate furniture in very good to excellent condition. The Bin is open for drop-offs when the TiLi Shed is open, and donors should check with TiLi Shed volunteers to access the Bin. Donors are also encouraged to drop off donations at Furniture Sharehouse’s Westchester County Airport location, but only on days and hours specified on the website.

Go to www.furnituresharehouse.org for complete Donation Guidelines

Textile Recycling
More than 85 percent of clothing, footwear, sheets, drapes and other household textiles are discarded annually as trash.  The City of White Plains has added two (2) textile recycling containers at the Gedney Recycling Yard in order to remove textiles from our waste stream.
