PARKING SUMMONSES

If your parking meter is expired or unpaid in any of the following garages, a $10.00 Overtime Notice will be issued:

• Chester-Maple Garage  
• Hamilton-Main Garage
• Lexington-Grove East Garage
• Lexington-Grove West Garage
• Library Garage
• TransCenter Garage
• White Plains Center Garage 
• Longview-Cromwell Garage

If a garage Overtime Notice is not paid by the Appearance Date indicated on the Overtime Notice, it becomes a $25.00 City Court Traffic Violations Summons as shown on the notice and subject to the Schedule of Fines shown below.

If you receive a "Meter Time Expired" summons on-street or in a lot, a $25.00 "Meter Time Expired" summons will be issued. The summons can be paid at any municipal garage office (except the City Center, Chester-Maple, TransCenter or Library Garages) before the 30th day of issuance.    

IF YOU RECEIVE A "PARKED BEYOND THE LIMIT" NOTICE...

On streets and in municipal parking areas, the parking limit is indicated by signs and/or by the meter TIME LIMIT. This time limit is the maximum time a vehicle can be legally parked in the same lot or on the same street, whether or not time is shown on the meter.

At the expiration of the TIME LIMIT, the vehicle must be moved out of area or it is in violation and subject to a summons answerable in City Court.

         In Person:    Visit the Parking Violations office between the hours of 9:00AM-4:00PM, Monday through Friday. This office is located on the main floor of the Public Safety Building, 77 South Lexington Avenue.

MULTISPACE METERS

In specified municipal structures, parking patrons use centrally located multispace meters (similar to bank automated teller machines.) These meters accept both coins, bills, MasterCard and VISA and issue change and receipts. Parking patrons can purchase additional time as needed without returning to their space. Please See "Pay by Phone" below.

FRIENDLY METERS

These electronic parking meters accept nickels, dimes, quarters and cashkeys and grant a six (6) minute grace period.

How do I sign up?

First-time users simply need to set up a FREE account. You can do this by calling our parking line 1-888-450-PARK (7275) or online at paybyphone.com. To set up an account, you will need:

1.       Mobile phone number

2.       Credit card (we accept VISA & MASTERCARD)

The next time you call your details will be automatically recognized and all you have to enter is the Location# and Space#.

What are the benefits?

How does the parking officer know I’ve paid by phone?

When you pay for your parking by phone, your parking space and parking time are automatically displayed on enforcement reports available to the parking enforcement officer.

Does pay by phone parking cost extra?

Normal parking charges apply, plus a 35-cents convenience fee (including the text message reminder cost) will be charged to your credit card.

Is it safe to do a credit card transaction on a phone?

Yes. Your credit card number is encrypted when you sign up and is never entered, displayed or spoken during a transaction.

When will I see the transactions on my credit card statement?

Each time you pay for your parking by cell phone, the payment is processed in real time. The amount of time that elapses before it shows up on your statement will vary depending on your credit card company.

Do I get a receipt?

You can view all your transactions by logging into your account at paybyphone.com. All parking charges can be printed off in the form of a receipt if required.
