White Plains Youth Bureau
11 Amherst Place White Plains,
NY 10601 (914) 422-1378
The White
Plains Youth Bureau was established by the
White Plains Common Council in 1970. The mission of the Youth Bureau
has evolved over the years. Its mission is to provide children and
youth with effective development programs for their early life.
Today's youth need more than to simply stay out of trouble. They
must be prepared to become good workers, good parents, good
neighbors, and good citizens. They need the skills to become
competent leaders in the twenty-first century.
Youth development provides opportunities for
children and youth to apply their energy and skills to actualize
their potential futures. It involves building physical and emotional
health as well as civic, social, and cultural competencies. It also
involves building character. Our youth development programs provide:
safe places to go after school; supervision by positive role models;
structured activities which engage their interest, challenge their
skills and provide them with the opportunity for community
service.
Structured development is needed for all youth -
it helps build strong character; by emphasizing preventive measures,
it supports family and school development by giving youth positive
supervision. White Plains is a city that values its youth and
recognizes them as important resources. We are a community dedicated
to providing children and young adults the resources they need to be
successful. The City of White Plains Youth Bureau offers children
and young adults the opportunity to reach for success. Through a
variety of youth development programs, the Youth Bureau fosters
personal development leading to the fulfillment of personal
dreams.
