The Alternatives Programs provide counseling, crisis intervention, youth leadership, development, advocacy services as well as recreational programs.

Mentor Program
Pairs youth in elementary school through age 21 with carefully selected adults who serve as role models. This program is designed to help a young person become the best they can be through support and guidance, while having fun at the same time.

A.C.E. - Achieving Competence Through Education
Provides tutoring on Saturdays for elementary and middle school students at the Eastview Middle School. The tutors are high school and college students who also act as mentors to those they tutor.

Reach for Success/Great Potential
These programs are designed to prevent school drop out by improving attendance, decreasing detention/suspension, maintaining or improving academic standings and exposure to post secondary educational and career opportunities. The programs offer counseling services to White Plains High School students grades 9 through 12. The Great Potential Program also offers services to Highlands Middle School students grades 6 through 8.

Middle School Youth Council
This is a wonderful group of middle school students 6 though 8 grades wanting to make a difference in their community. They are learning leadership skills as well as performing monthly community service activities.

Mayor's Youth Council
The purpose of the youth council is to increase the respect and self respect of young people by providing opportunities to take leadership roles in their communities. The goals of the youth council are to work together to increase youth participation in significant activities affecting young people in their community. The youth council is comprised of students in 9th through 12th grade that reside in White Plains. These students are considered leaders in White Plains. They come together to perform monthly community service projects . Along with the community service projects, the students also meet with the Mayor of White Plains four times a year to discuss issues regarding youth.

Bits 'n Pieces Camp
A six week summer camp open to children entering grades first through fifth. This camp gives students the opportunity to stay on track with their studies. Our goal is to provide a safe, enjoyable and educational camp that enhances academic skills by emphasizing reading, writing and critical thinking. In addition, swimming, arts & crafts and field trips are part of this summer experience.
