Y.E.S. Includes:

Youth Aiming for Financial Independence
Through our collaboration with the National Foundation of Teaching Entrepreneurship, youth learn to write business plans and are taught the basics of business development, business ethics, marketing, sales and budgeting.

Registration for the program begins in September.

The Babysitters' Training Program & Club
11 - 16 year olds focus on leadership, safety, basic care and first aid through our American Red Cross Babysitter Certification program and develop tools to start their own babysitting businesses in the Babysitters' Club.

Offered 1 Saturday per month, Nov-May.

White Plains inspiring Achievement Program
W.I.A. focuses on personal development, educational support, community service, academic excellence, job training and internship placement options. Students must be referred to program to participate.

Junior Counselor Training Program
This is a first time paid job experience for young people who love children. Participants work for 8 weeks in local, public, After School Centers as Teachers' Aids Mondays through Thursdays and hone work related skills during Friday workshops.

Offered Sept-June in 6 week cycles.

Ambassadors' Program
Y.E.S. Ambassadors are offered a chance to develop market research skills, assist with the planning and execution of community events and serve as a welcome wagon for the mayor and local businesses in downtown White Plains.

The City of White Plains Summer Youth Employment Program & Job Fair
An average of two hundred and fifty 14 - 21 year olds participate in job readiness workshops, a job fair in June and are placed, through city funding in over fifty non-profit work sites.

The process begins in March!

Embarking on a Successful Job Search #101, #102, and #103
A certificate of completion and job referral services are available to all students who complete this three part workshop series where students prepare resumes, practice completing applications and interviewing, learn about business ethics and employee relations.

Offered Sept-June at WPHS on a weekly basis.

Job Referrals
The local academic and business community often call on us to help fill their jobs because we provide them with pre-screened 14 - 21 year olds and then offer to follow-up to ensure mutual job satisfaction. 14-21 Can contact us to find out how to be referred to one of these many jobs.

Exploring Career Pathways
A lunchtime speakers series offered at WPHS designed to expose youth to a variety of different career paths and an opportunity for them to meet and qustion professionals within the field about their personal experiences.

Greening Project
This summer program is a hands-on career axperience via an ecology and nutrition based curriculum. Participants learn how to fish, prepare, and eat nutritous meals, discover the history of and help maintain local natural reserves $amp; make weekly day trips to wildlife sactuaries and public works facilities to learn about career options.

Private Sector Job Fair
Held twice yearly (November and April), white plains youth who are seeking employment are provided an opportunity to interview with a variety of local companies such as Taget, Starbucks and CVS.
