The city archives is under the direction of the Office of the City Clerk. As required under New York State Law, the Clerk’s Office is responsible for the collection, conservation, and preservation of government records, as well as a collection of photos, artifacts, maps and other ephemera. Over the past number of years the majority of time has been spent in reformatting various collections into digital media with the ultimate goal of having as much of the collection as possible available on a future website.
The City Clerk's Office and the Recreation and Parks Department have created historic walking loops which highlight White Plains' rich history. These loops make for fun and interesting walks and are a great way to get your exercise and gain some local historical knowledge at the same time! The walking loops are great for both individuals and families.
