Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update for Residents April 22, 2020

Seal - gold and blue

Dear Residents:

New York state now has 257,216 positive cases. The total number tested in Westchester is 76,564; the number of people who have tested positive in the county is 25,276. The County Executive said that the number of active cases in the county is now below 10,000, and the number of people hospitalized has continued to drop. The number of people who have tested positive and reside at addresses within the City of White Plains is 1087 according to data received from the county today.

I had a chance to visit the Martine Center Nursing Facility and the New York Presbyterian Hospital, today to commend the people who are caring for so many under difficult conditions and thank them on behalf of our community.

Tomorrow night at 7pm we will once again be honoring all of our essential workers. Let’s make some noise and let them know once again, how much we appreciate their efforts. I would also like to thank Congregation Kol Ami, El Centro Hispano, Salvation Army, Covid cares and many others for their assistance with food distributions in the city. Remember

As a reminder, individuals with symptoms of COVID-19 which include fever, cough, and congestion can walk in to be tested at White Plains Hospital Emergency Department. If you have recovered from the coronavirus, you are encouraged to donate your plasma. Please see the NY blood center’s website at: to fill out the donor request form. The demand is high and you may save a life.

As was mentioned last week, we will now be doing scheduled robocalls Monday Wednesday, and Friday unless circumstances warrant otherwise. Talk to you Friday, Remember we are standing together by staying apart.
