New York State now has over 337,000 positive cases. The total number tested in Westchester is 112,663; the number of people who have tested positive in the county is 31,384. The county currently estimates the number of active cases in the county to be 3377. The cumulative number of positive cases in White Plains is 1659 with 204 of those estimated to be active 8 of which are new cases.
As a reminder, individuals with symptoms of COVID-19 which include fever, cough and congestion can walk in to be tested at White Plains Hospital Emergency Department.Today the Governor provided specifics regarding the phased re-opening of the state on a region by region basis. We have been deemed to be part of the Mid Hudson region consisting of Westchester Rockland Putnam Sullivan Orange and Ulster counties. Westchester has hit 5 of the 7 benchmarks required to move to phase one of the reopening but the region as a whole must hit all 7. Phase One permits general construction and allows retail on a pre-order/pick up model. We have provided a link to detailed information on the state’s re-opening program on our website. It is anticipated that several upstate regions will be qualified as of Friday. In addition landscapers and gardeners will be able move beyond basic maintenance activity statewide as of Friday. As a reminder in White Plains May 15 is also the last day gasoline powered leaf blowers may be used until October 1st.
