Seal - gold and blue

The most recent data provided by the county today indicates the cumulative number of people who have tested positive in White Plains since testing began is 1,748.

The county estimates the number of active cases in White Plains to be 26. NYS makes additional statewide and county-by-county data available at covid19tracker.health.ny.gov.

Tomorrow is the last day for free antibody testing sponsored by the State of New York, call 1-833-422-7369 to schedule an appointment. Diagnostic testing will be offered at Calvary Baptist Church this Tuesday, June 9 th, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Again, call 1-833-422-7369 to schedule your appointment.

We continue on a positive track and are scheduled to enter Phase 2 of the re-opening process this Tuesday. As we previously mentioned Phase 2, among other things, means haircuts and walk-in retail, but the governor has now added outdoor dining at restaurants so you can show off your new haircut!  Offices will also be permitted to re-open in Phase 2 with social distancing requirements.

The City and the BID have teamed up to bring a drive-in movie series to residents. The series kicks off on June 12 th with Grease. We’ve had a terrific response already and this movie showing is already sold out. Next, we have The Sandlot on June 20 th, Toy Story 4 on June 27th, and Captain America: The First Avenger on July 3rd. Go to cityofwhiteplains.com or wpbid.com for details on how to purchase tickets.

Westchester County has announced that they are extending Bicycle Sundays on the Bronx River Parkway through the summer and into the fall.

Compliance levels in White Plains continue to be excellent overall, but please remember that masks are still required inside public establishments and outside when it is likely you will be within 6 feet of others. If you need a mask, please email maskwp@whiteplainsny.gov.

And last but not least, I’d like to wish a very happy 100th birthday to White Plains resident Christine Johnson!  Ms. Johnson has lived in White Plains for almost 60 years and is affectionately known in the Lake Street community where she lives as “grandma.” She is the mother of 5 children, 8 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 9 great, great-grandchildren!   Our very hearty congratulations go out to Christine Johnson!

Our next call is scheduled for Monday. Until then, we are standing together by staying apart.
