When our normally full event calendar had to be drastically changed this year due to COVID-19, the Recreation & Parks Department started to think about how we could bring people together in a safe and fun way. Partnering with the White Plains Business Improvement District (WP BID), we were able to present our first ever drive-in movie series for residents.
The series consists of four movies at two locations. A number of restaurants joined in to offer easy pick-up food specials on movie nights, and for the two movies shown in the Waller-Maple parking lot, certain restaurants are also offering delivery directly to your car during the screening!
Ticket proceeds are donated to the White Plains BID/Caring for COVID partnership, an effort to support local White Plains restaurants while simultaneously helping feed our front line workers. The White Plains BID is matching every dollar donated to boost local businesses in the downtown district even further.
Our last movie will be shown on July 3rd, and so far, the series has been a resounding success!
