Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update for Residents June 25, 2020

Seal - gold and blue

The most recent data provided by the county today indicates the cumulative number of people who have tested positive in White Plains since testing began is 1,818.  The county estimates the number of active cases in White Plains to be 45.  The County’s “active” number is based on positive cases over the last 2 weeks. The number of new cases each day remains very low.

We are now in Phase 3 of the reopening process. In this phase, restaurants and food service establishments may open for indoor dining with restrictions, and personal care services, including nail salons, spas, and massage therapy, may also open with restrictions. Events with up to 25 people are permitted.

Both Kittrell and Gardella pools will open for residents only on July 1st. We have made operating changes to ensure that you can enjoy the pools safely and comfortably. Reservations will be required as part of our new protocols. Check for more information.

The City has also opened its playgrounds. We ask that all users practice social distancing and wear a mask. Signs have been posted at all playgrounds detailing use guidelines.

Things have improved markedly in our city and our region but it is vital that we all continue to follow the guidelines particularly the requirements regarding the wearing of masks. States that reopened quickly such as Florida and Texas have demonstrated that the risk is real. We don’t want to go back to where we were.

Our next call is scheduled for Monday. Until then, we are standing together by staying apart.
