Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update for Residents, July 6, 2020

The most recent data provided by the county today indicates the cumulative number of people who have tested positive in White Plains since testing began is 1,835.The county estimates the number of active cases in White Plains to be 29. There are currently 60 people hospitalized in the county due to COVID.

We are scheduled to begin Phase 4 of the reopening process tomorrow.  Phase 4 includes guidance for reopening institutions of higher education, as well as low risk outdoor arts and entertainment (such as zoos, botanical gardens, historic sites, nature parks) and low risk indoor arts and entertainment (such as indoor museums, historic sites, aquariums) with capacity restrictions. Film and media production is also allowed to restart under Phase 4. The State has not provided any indication of when malls and movie theaters may reopen at this time. It is vital that we all continue to follow the social distancing and mask guidelines. I cannot stress enough -- Please wear a mask and maintain social distance. We do not want to go back to where we were.

Both Kittrell and Gardella pools are now open for residents. We have made operating changes to ensure that you can enjoy the pools safely and comfortably. Reservations will be required as part of our new protocols. Check for more information.

The 2020 census is ongoing and I’d like to take this opportunity to urge you to go online to and complete your census if you have not already done so. It doesn’t take long but it will have a real impact on the number of representatives we have and the funding the city receives for important things like our schools, hospitals, housing, public works, transportation, and nutrition programs.

We are moving to a weekly phone call, on Mondays. Our next call is scheduled for Monday, July 13th. Until then remember, we are standing together by staying apart.
