Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update for Residents, August 3, 2020

Seal - gold and blue

Hello, this is White Plains Mayor Tom Roach with important information regarding the Covid-19 Pandemic and impending storm.

The most recent data provided by the county today indicates the cumulative number of people who have tested positive in White Plains since testing began is 1, 885. The county estimates the number of active cases in White Plains to be 24.

The Westchester County map of COVID cases, is updated each weekday, and is available on our website, cityofwhiteplains.com, on the “AttentionWP” alert bar.

We have adapted to the presence of the virus but it is still present. Our adaptations have succeeded in holding the virus at bay but if we let up there is plenty of evidence that the virus will come roaring back. A key component of our adaptive recovery is the wearing of masks. Keep wearing yours! The data confirms benefits for both the wearer and the community!

The National Weather Service has issued a Tropical Storm Warning for our area due to Hurricane Isaias continuing through Tuesday. Thunderstorms, heavy rainfall, and high winds and flooding of low lying areas are expected. Please stay tuned to local news outlets for forecast updates and be guided accordingly. If you experience a power outage, please report it as soon as possible to Con Ed at 1-800-75-ConEd or online at coned.com. Please don’t presume someone else has called!

The White Plains Department of Public Safety has asked me to remind you to lock your car, even if it is parked in your driveway. Please do not leave the key or key

fob in your car. Westchester County has seen an increase in cars being stolen when they are left unlocked and/or keys are left inside, including in White Plains.

Our next call is scheduled for Monday, August 10th. Until then remember, we are standing together by staying apart.
