Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update for Residents, September 29th, 2020

Seal - gold and blue

The most recent data provided by the county today indicates the cumulative number of people who have tested positive in White Plains since testing began is 1, 985. The county estimates the number of active cases in White Plains to be 23.

The number of new cases we are seeing remains low, however we are continuing to see new cases, and other parts of the state are seeing a spike in cases, a reminder the virus still out there. Until there is a vaccine available that will protect us all we must remain vigilant and continue to work together as a community to prevent the virus from finding a new foothold. Be White Plains smart this fall and keep wearing your mask!

The flu vaccine is here and I encourage everyone to get theirs as soon as possible. Keep in mind that higher than normal demand for the shot is expected.

The Governor has extended the moratorium on residential evictions to January 1, 2021.

The deadline to complete your 2020 census is October 5th. Your participation, Just 10 minutes and 10 questions, will have a positive impact on our community for the next 10 years. Remember, the purpose of the census is to count the number of people living in our community. There are no questions about immigration status or citizenship.

The deadline to register to vote in the November 3rd Election is October 9th. You can download a voter registration form at: CitizenParticipation.westchestergov.com, the Board of Elections website.

If you are already registered to vote make a plan now for voting. There were long lines on the date of the most recent primary and turnout for the general election is expected to be high. There are several voting options available, including by absentee ballot, in-person early voting, and in-person on Election Day. Information on all of these is also available at citizenparticipation.westchestergov.com as well as on the City of White Plains website.

Our next call will be on Monday, October 5th.  Until then remember, we are standing together by staying apart.
