Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update for Residents, October 26, 2020

The County estimates that there are 1,033 active cases in the county as a whole, the highest numbers we’ve seen since early June. There are currently 45 active cases in White Plains. The cumulative number of people who have tested positive in White Plains since testing began is 2,061.

Although the overall number of active cases remains at a manageable level, the trend line continues to show an upswing in cases in the County. To one degree or another, we have all experienced fatigue with COVID protocols. However, the evidence shows that the protocols, particularly the wearing of masks, have a substantial impact on the spread of the disease. Don’t let your guard down, White Plains! Please continue to wear your masks!

The Westchester County Health Commissioner has issued an order requiring the wearing of masks for students in grades K – 12 in public and private schools in Westchester County. The order contains certain exceptions, such as while a student is eating. Schools have received the order and will be implementing it.

Early voting has started and will continue through November 1st. The early voting location in White Plains is the Board of Elections. Go to citizenparticipation.westchestergov.com for more information.

The White Plains Police Reform Committee will host its third public comment session on Thursday, October 29th at 7 PM. This session is geared toward youth, but is open to anyone who would like to participate. Go to the city website for more details about the work of this committee and how you can participate.

Our next call will be on Monday, November 2nd.  Until then remember, we are standing together by staying apart.
