The County has transitioned to a new online dashboard system to track and present Westchester County COVID-19 data. We have posted a link to this dashboard on the City website, cityofwhiteplains.com at the top of the home page. The County will be updating the dashboard every weekday.

As of today, the data continues to confirm new cases in Westchester County and in White Plains. There are currently 533 active cases in our City, 10 fewer than Thursday, the last time data was provided. Over the last 7 days we have had an average of 34 new cases per day. The virus remains active and we must all continue to be vigilant. Please wear your mask whenever you are outside your home, wash your hands frequently, and avoid social gatherings.

Vaccinations of eligible healthcare workers and residents and employees of nursing homes in our city are continuing. New York State is at the top of the national chart on the number of vaccines administered to date. Further information regarding vaccines may be viewed at wphospital.org.

At White Plains Hospital the number of COVID patients continues to hold steady.   The Hospital is still performing elective procedures and encourages all community members to go to the hospital if they are in need of emergency care.

Due to the New Year’s holiday, all City offices will be closed and there will be no garbage pick-up on Friday, January 1st. If you live on a Monday/Thursday garbage collection route, your trash will be picked up on Wednesday. If you live on a Tuesday/Friday garbage collection route, your trash will be picked up on Tuesday and Thursday.

There will be no paper recycling this week. Paper recycling will resume on Wednesday, January 6th. On January 6th, if necessary you may use your garbage container for any excess paper. Please keep the lid open so that Sanitation can confirm that it contains paper and please Do Not mix paper and garbage in the same container. As a reminder, the Gedney Recycling Center accepts paper and is open every day with the exception of New Year’s Day. Check cityofwhiteplains.com for hours of operation.

As 2020 comes to an end I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your patience and cooperation as we worked through a tough year we will all be happy to see come to an end.

Our next COVID update will be on Monday, January 4th, 2021! Happy New Year!. Until then remember, we are standing together by staying apart.
