Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update for Residents March 08, 2021

The data is continuing to show a decline in active COVID cases in White Plains. There are currently an estimated 327 active cases in our City, down 10 from our call last week. Over the past 7 days, we have averaged 23 new cases per day.

Although eligibility for the Covid vaccine remains limited, there has been a marked increase in vaccinations in White Plains. Residents eligible for the vaccine should continue to check the State website, or call the State Hotline at 1-833-NYS-4-VAX (1-833-697-4829) to check for openings at the County Center as well as other state–run vaccination sites.

If you are 65 and older, reside in the City of White Plains, and need assistance in securing an appointment for a vaccination, please call (914) 422-1378 between 8:00 am and 6:00 pm.

The one-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine has been given emergency authorization and inoculations with that vaccine have begun in Westchester County and in White Plains, joining the Moderna and Pfizer vaccines.

It is important that we all continue to wear our masks in public as that has repeatedly been demonstrated to be the most effective means of stemming transmission. Individuals who have been vaccinated must continue to wear their masks until eligibility expands and all of our neighbors have had the chance to get theirs. Although we are headed in the right direction, the presence of variants and the lack of herd immunity require us to maintain the discipline we have shown thus far. Now is not the time to let up, wear your mask!

Our next call is on Monday, March 15th. Until then remember, we’re standing together by staying apart.
