The White Plains Youth Bureau’s Keepers of the Dream, along with the WESPAC Foundation, BackYard Sports Cares and the Westchester Youth Alliance, is sponsoring “Social Justice and the Arts,” on Saturday, June 19, 2021, 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Turnure Park (Lake St & Canfield Ave) in White Plains. The program will celebrate Juneteenth, now a New York State Holiday.
The program will focus on unity, diversity and inclusion while emphasizing liberation and education. Included in the program will be readings, spoken word, music and speeches.
Zaida Rao, a White Plains High School junior and a youth leader for the project, commented, “On this historic day where we celebrate the emancipation of those who had been enslaved, the WESPAC organization, Westchester Youth Alliance, and the White Plains Youth Bureau-affiliated youth group, Keepers of the Dream, bring you live activism through the arts.”
