Tropical Storm Henri continues to impact our area with heavy rain. We have seen areas of flooding throughout the city and some roads and intersections have been temporarily closed, including the Central Westchester Parkway, which is closed in both directions, and Paulding Street near the Westchester Mall and Maple Ave. In addition, Westchester County has closed its parkways, including the Bronx River Parkway and Saw Mill River Parkway.
The forecast at this time continues to call for steady rain through tonight and much of tomorrow. As the rain continues, so does the risk of flooding. We would like to remind all residents to please stay at home and refrain from driving if at all possible. If you must drive, do not drive through standing water and please do not drive around "Road Closed" signs or police tape. Those signs have been put in place for your safety. We have also seen a lot of dislodged sewer caps due to the volume of rainfall, which presents another hazard for drivers.
Our DPW crews, the Police Department and the Fire Department have been working around the clock to address emergency calls and weather-related hazards. Please stay safe, White Plains. We will keep you posted with additional updates as necessary.
