Good Morning, White Plains. The remnants of Hurricane Ida are passing through our area today through tomorrow, Thursday, September 2nd. Significant rainfall is expected from this storm and flash flooding may occur. The heaviest rains are expected during the overnight hours. The Department of Public Works been hard at work preparing for this storm. They have pre-positioned sump pumps in known flooding locations, prepared sandbags, cleared culverts and outfalls, and fueled and tested pumps and generators. In addition, they have cleaned catch basins and storm lines in areas affected by the last storm. The Police Department has pre-placed barricades in known flooding areas so they can be readily deployed to block off roads in order to prevent motorists from getting stuck, if needed. If you encounter a "Road Closed" sign or police tape, please do not ignore and drive around it. They have been put in place for your safety. Please travel safely, if you need to travel.
