Due to high vaccination rates in White Plains and Westchester County as a whole, we continue to see a decline in active COVID-19 cases in our city. The last numbers reported by the county indicate 70 active cases in White Plains. On September 20th, we had 131 active cases. The Delta variant is highly transmissible however, and unvaccinated individuals remain at high risk. Free vaccines are available at several pop up clinics in White Plains in coming days:
For those who have not yet been vaccinated, the Westchester County Department of Health will offer 2 COVID-19 pop-up vaccine clinics in White Plains. The clinics will be held at White Plains High School on Wednesday, October 20th and at Highlands Middle School on Friday, October 22nd from 2:30 to 5:30 pm both days. Just walk in.
The Health Department also offers the vaccine at their Clinic on 134 Court Street on Fridays from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. Walk-ins are accepted.
You may also receive the vaccine from local pharmacies or your personal physician. The vaccine is safe and effective and you will be protecting yourself, your loved ones, and your community.
There has been some confusion about booster shots. At this time, booster shots have been approved for those who received the Pfizer vaccine only. To be eligible to receive a Pfizer booster dose you must have completed your original Pfizer vaccine series at least six months ago and you must be:
- 65 years and older, or
- 18 years and older with underlying medical conditions, or
- 18 years and older and living or working in a high-risk setting (i.e. – a nursing home).
For more information about eligibility, please see this link: https://covid19vaccine.health.ny.gov/booster-doses-frequently-asked-questions#eligibility
If you meet the criteria and now want a booster shot, the County Health Department will hold Pfizer vaccine booster clinics, by appointment only, every Wednesday and Thursday from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm, at 134 Court Street in White Plains.
