White Plains Education and Training Center

The White Plains Education and Training Center is a workforce training hub committed to developing the talents who will fill the in-demand jobs in IT and other fields.  The Center provides short-term training and education, leading to industry certifications to align the skills of the worker with the needs of the workplace.  WPETC will also serve as a laboratory for testing innovations in IT, Cybersecurity, and other products.

The center is centrally located in the city of White Plains, with easy access from most major highways and public transportation.

What is Cybersecurity?

This program is an introduction to the field of Cybersecurity, and is designed to help learners develop a deeper understanding of modern information and system protection technology and methods. This program will help you to determine if the field of cybersecurity is right for you.

English as a Second Language Course

English as a Second Language: Courses for Beginners (Level 0-2): Westchester Community College English Language Institute offers in-person courses with three beginner levels (0-2).

Begin the process of learning and actively practicing basic vocabulary, grammar, speaking and listening skills necessary for daily living, employment and post-secondary education.

Computer Essentials with Microsoft Excel

Learn the basic computer skills necessary for today’s workplace. By the end of this course you will have an understanding of computer file management – saving, organizing, and deleting files, as well as creating folders to organize your files. You’ll work on keyboarding for accuracy and speed and be introduced to Microsoft Excel, one of the most fundamental software programs used in professional settings. Participants will receive a free account for Microsoft 365 software. No prior computer experience necessary.

Date: February 7 - March 14, 2022 (skip 2/21 & 2/23)

Computer Programming at the Starting Line

Whether you are new to the world of programming or you just need a refresher, this course is for you. The course will introduce programming and problem solving in a high-level language. Topics covered include basic data types, operators and expressions, control structures and loops. No previous programming experience required; basic typing and computer skills are required.

Introduction to SQL

This course will allow the student to understand and write SQL (Structured Query Language); the language used to create, read, and manipulate data from relational databases such as Access, Oracle, and Microsoft SQL Server.

Required: Some familiarity with a relational database system(e.g. MS Access).

English for Academic Purposes for Healthcare

If you are looking to enter or advance your career in the healthcare field, funding for this course may be available, the English for Academic Purposes may be a good fit for you. This 72 hours of instruction will help students succeed in their healthcare courses.


Date: Tuesdays & Thursdays, February 10 - May 3, 2022

Time: 6:30 PM - 9:30 PM

Cost: $328 (funding for this course may be available)

Entry-level IT Helpdesk Technician Program

The Entry-level IT Help Desk Technician course will prepare you to earn the CompTIA A+ certification. The course provides hands-on instruction, covering the skills required to assemble, refurbish, upgrade, configure and troubleshoot personal computers. The skills you will gain will give you a clear understanding of network, hardware, security, software, server, virtualization, management, as well as troubleshooting mobile devices.

Additionally, you will benefit from attending a Career Development session once per week to refine your job search skills so that you are successful finding employment in the IT field. What

In the Career Development the coach will give you the career readiness tools and resources to seek, obtain, and retain successful employment in the Information Technology Field.

Cost: $2,500 plus $5 registration fee (Funding may be available for this course)

Location: Hybrid - one day in-person & one day remote

Prerequisites: Basic computer skills
