It’s been well established that children who read during the summer see improved language skills and are better prepared for the rigors of school when school starts in September.
With this in mind, the City of White Plains My Brother’s Keeper Initiative is kicking off its second Annual Summer Readers Achievers Program beginning Monday, July 2nd through Friday, August 10, 2018. Working in concert with the White Plains Library and area camp programs, the Readers Achievers Program is designed to increase the number of children and teens participating in summer reading programs. More than 300 children and youth participated in last year’s Readers Achievers Program.
A reading list is published on the White Plains Youth Bureau Web site at www.whiteplainsyouthbureau.org. Books are available at the White Plains Library. At the end of the summer, youth will receive a Certificate of Participation.
