Today’s Update: 3/17/2020
Yesterday I signed an Executive Order, prohibiting the in-premises service of food and drink by restaurants, bars, and other establishments. In addition, movie theaters, gyms and exercise facilities, performance venues, recreation centers, and spas have been ordered to close. We are seeing excellent compliance, and I want to thank those involved; it can really make a difference.
These measures put in place are meant to slow the increase in new cases so that the number of cases at any time can be met by the health care system. The governor outlined today the next focus is on the capacity of our hospitals.
Every day we are working and communicating with representatives of the state and county government as well as White Plains Hospital and other organizations to ensure effective measures as we collectively fight this pandemic.
Each day we receive new information on confirmed cases from the State and County Health Departments. These numbers are increasing as the pandemic moves forward, and due to the fact that testing capacity has ramped up significantly.
Westchester has 380 cases of which 157 are new and the number of positive cases in WP is 10 up 2 since yesterday.
