Urban Renewal Agency

Overview

The White Plains Urban Renewal Agency (WPURA) is a public benefit corporation authorized by Title 14, Article 15-B of New York State General Municipal Law to exercise certain powers to carry out urban renewal projects approved by the Common Council which conform to and promote the goals and objectives of the City’s Comprehensive Plan.

The WPURA is comprised of a five member board including the Mayor and four other members appointed by the Mayor. The WPURA is an active participant in the City's redevelopment projects and has prepared urban renewal plans for various projects throughout the City. The URA has also received and administered federal and State grants to fund major downtown revitalization projects as part of these plans.
